Mattresses Distributions
2025 (Completed)
SCANN has been receiving numerous requests for mattresses from the street families and from the Hot Kitchens beneficiaries. This prompted the decision to donate 1,400 mattresses, which were distributed to the beneficiaries at the two Hot Kitchens, Tower 1 beneficiaries, and to the Street Families in Nakuru CBD.
The total cost of this Project was Kshs. 1.55M.
Lanet Comprehensive School Project
October 2025 (Completed)
Following a needs assessment at Lanet Comprehensive School on 3rd September, SCANN intervened as follows:
• Provided all 56 learners in the school's special unit with full school uniforms, adult diapers, and specialized learning materials.
• Supported all 1,505 learners with stationery and other educational materials.
• Equipped each of the 32 classrooms with a table and chair for the teachers, metal trunks for storage, brooms, charts, and other learning essentials.
• Improved school facilities by renovating & providing five stainless steel commercial jikos (1*150 liters, 3*100 liters, and 1*50 liters) for the two kitchens, renovating and constructing toilets and urinals, installing water points, and replacing 395 window panes.
The project was completed and handed over on 2nd October at a cost of just over Kshs. 1.5M.
Kaptembwo Comprehensive School Project
June 2024
Following a comprehensive needs assessment carried out in June, SCANN donated new school uniforms to 1,777 pupils.
Scientific calculators were also provided to all 242 Grade 9 candidates.
The project was completed at a total cost of just over Kshs. 3.6M.
Relief Assistance to Shosho Njoki and Her Grandchildren
4 September 2025 (Completed)
Teresia Njoki is one of the Elderly needy persons regularly assisted with daily subsistence by the Gilani Family and has been known to SCANN for several years. On the morning of the 4th September 2025, while receiving her usual daily cash support and a loaf of bread from the SCANN Chairman, she disclosed that her house had been burnt down the previous day and she lost absolutely everything. She was forced together with her three grandchildren to sleep outside.
Following this disclosure, SCANN Trustees promptly visited the scene, assessed the situation, and resolved to construct an iron sheet shelter for her. In addition, she was provided with essential household items, including a table, chairs, beds, blankets, clothing, food, kitchen utensils, and school uniforms for the two grandchildren.
The relief intervention was successfully completed at a total cost of just over Kshs. 140,000/-.
Pangani Special School Project
July 2025 (Completed)
In July 2025, SCANN was requested to assist Pangani Special School once more (first visit was in September 2024). After a comprehensive needs assessment visit and taking into account the school management's list of requirements, SCANN undertook to assist the school again.
To enhance accessibility, SCANN constructed cabro pavements connecting five key buildings, enabling easier movement for pupils using wheelchairs and walking aids. A comprehensive rain water harvesting system was also installed, with a 10,000L tank at the Kitchen area and another 10,000L tank at the Dormitory. In addition, a water pump with another 5,000L tank was mounted on a 15ft steel stand to ensure safety, durability, and easy distribution.
To further improve sanitation and hygiene, SCANN constructed three fully tiled toilets and three bathrooms, equipped with water connections and lighting, to meet the learners' needs.
The entire project was successfully completed at a total cost of Kshs. 1,201,935/-.
Mai Mahiu Flood Victims
2025 (Completed)
Following the flood catastrophe that befell hundreds of Mai Mahiu families in early 2024, SCANN in collaboration with the Rotary Clubs assessed the devastation and resolved to build homes for 18 affected families.
SCANN built 11 out of the 18 houses and also provided each of the 18 families with household items of two beds with mattresses, 4 blankets, dining table, chairs, food hampers among other domestic items, at a cost of over Kshs. 5.0M.
The project was completed at a cost of Kshs. 7.9M.
Ramadhan Hampers Distribution
March 2025
SCANN donated over 290 Food Hampers to Muslim beneficiaries across various Mosques; including Njoro Mosque, Namoruputh Mosque (Turkana), Ronda Mosque, Town Mosque, Bondeni Mosque, Shabab Mosque, Barnabas Mosque.
It remains our tradition to share and celebrate the Holy month of Ramadhan with our Muslim brothers and sisters throughout the years.
Total cost: Over Kshs. 338,000/-.
Parkview Primary School
17 January 2025
SCANN provided a complete set of school uniforms to 303 pupils, school furniture to both pupils and teachers, alongside new school bags, stationery & other learning materials to all the 385 pupils at the school.
SCANN also replaced 423 window panes, installed 4 steel doors, and renovated 4 classroom floors.
Total cost: Over Kshs. 1.6M/-.
Christmas Hampers Distribution
December 2024
SCANN always celebrates the Christmas season by sharing with the most vulnerable in the society. In 2024, SCANN donated 1,630 food hampers to all over 1,400 Hot Kitchens' beneficiaries (both Ronda Slums & SCANN Center sites).
These hampers were also shared with hundreds of needy street families, physically challenged and elderly populations.

The Pangani Special School
11 September 2024
SCANN came to the rescue of Pangani school following the destruction of their water-tank, which fell from the kitchen ceiling. SCANN purchased and fully installed a new 5000-litre tank, stably erected on a steel structure outside for security purposes.
Furthermore, SCANN renovated the damaged kitchen and dormitory ceilings while also tiling the floors, alongside donation of 16 dining tables to the school.
Total cost: Over Kshs. 780,000/-.
Ngala School for the Deaf Project
26 July 2024
SCANN assisted the school when it was hit by a flood tragedy that collapsed their toilet block, leaving the children vulnerable. SCANN constructed a new toilet block for the school which helped them to continue their learning efficiently, at a cost of Kshs. 700,000/-.
Additionally, SCANN constructed 180 new dormitory shelves, installed 331 window panes and 9 new steel classroom doors, provided 16 Laboratory stools, and painted all bathrooms of the school dormitories at a cost of Kshs. 600,000/-.
SCANN further assessed needs of the learners at the school and resolved to provide new sets of school uniforms to 78 pupils alongside stationery & other learning materials to all the 181 pupils at the school at a cost of Kshs. 165,200/-.
Cumulatively, the project was successfully completed at a cost of Kshs. 1.5M.
Nasinya ECD, Lorecho ECD, Lomayan Primary School
15 June 2024
SCANN built classrooms, kitchen, 4 toilets and donated furniture to all learners and teachers at Lorecho and Nasinya ECD schools.
We provided school bags, educational material to students and food hampers to all pupils and teachers.
Total cost: Over Kshs. 1.4M/-.
Kisulisuli Primary School
22 March 2024
SCANN provided new school uniforms to 220 pupils and learning materials to 493 pupils. SCANN also provided school furniture for the classrooms.
SCANN also exhausted 8 overflowing pit latrines, replaced 523 window panes, and replaced doors for classrooms and toilets.
All Muslim pupils were also issued food hampers during that Ramadhan period.
Total cost: Over Kshs. 900,000/-.
Kapnosgei Primary, Kamasai ECD, Kamungei ECD Schools

SCANN donated desks and benches for both students and teachers alongside other learning materials like stationery, school bags, storage boxes, and food items to all students.

Heshima Primary School (Ronda Slums)
June 2023
SCANN supported the most needy learners with 776 sets of new school uniforms and leather shoes.
Total cost: Over Kshs. 1,004,500/-.







Kibowen Komen Primary School (Ronda Slums)
June 2023
SCANN donated 276 sets of new uniforms and leather shoes to identified most needy learners.
SCANN also supported other 198 most needy children for a lunch program at the school.
Total cost: Over Kshs. 656,160/-.
